Kingston and Spanish Town, and, to some extent, the rest of the island, experienced most of the range of forms of entertainment available to the peoples of the 'Western World' in the 19th century. From time to time there were complaints in the press about the dullness of the times, and of the need for more entertainment, but the advertisement columns in the press present a wide variety of forms of entertainment much of the time. These pages will deal primarily with forms of entertainment involving the developing technologies of the 19th century.
